MARINA & MASHA’S RUSSIAN RECIPES – 23RD MAY 2024

 

  1. BUCKWHEAT WITH MUSHROOMS & LEEKS RECIPE – Serves 10

 

INGREDIENTS:

500g buckwheat

500g mushrooms

400g leeks

50mls sunflower oil

1tsp salt

1 pinch of black pepper

 

METHOD:

Boil a large pan of water.

Add salt and buckwheat.

Bring to the boil and then cover, reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes.

Drain well.

Chop the mushrooms and leeks.

Heat oil in a frying pan.

Add the chopped ingredients with salt and pepper and fry for about 10 minutes.

Mix in the cooked buckwheat and serve.

 

  1. RYE CROUTONS WITH CHEESE RECIPE – Serves 10

 

INGREDIENTS:

1 loaf of rye bread

2 eggs

200mls milk

200g sliced cheese

20 mls sunflower oil

 

METHOD:

Thoroughly mix eggs and milk in a large bowl.

Dip the bread slices into the mixture. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the bread for a few minutes. Place the cheese slices on top.

 

  1. BUCKWHEAT FOR BREAKFAST – Serves one

 

INGREDIENTS:

50g buckwheat

100mls milk

1tsp sugar

 

METHOD:

Boil the water in a medium sized pan.

Add the buckwheat and bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

Remove from heat and serve with hot milk (and sugar if wanted).
