Our learners and volunteers participated in various events throughout Refugee Week 2025, 16-22 June.
This year's theme was "community as a superpower", clearly embodied in the strength, warmth and diversity of the people who have made this week so special.
Representatives from Richmond EAL attended and/or supported several of the following activities:
- Monday 16th June: Artistic Inspiration in Refugee Week at the Vineyard Community Centre, organised by Refugees Welcome in Richmond (RWinR).
- Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th June: Tending to the Centres at Ham and East Sheen Libraries, organised by RESOLVE Collective as part of Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival.
- Wednesday 18th June: Weekly Community Hub at Mortlake Hall, organised by the Mortlake Community Association, to which some of our learners donated cooked dishes from their home countries.
- Thursday 19th June: Richmond Refugee Week Celebration at York House, organised by the Refugee Services team in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Council.
- Saturday 21st June: Summer garden party and launch of the Voices of Richmond Archive at Teddington Library, for which we helped to organise entertainment in the form of dynamic Turkish dancing from Logo Dance School, and melodious singing from Mariia Deliss. Watch videos of the dancing and singing below.
Many thanks to Richmond Council Refugee Services for providing us with a grant to cover some of these activities, and to Teddington Library for their support on Saturday.
Our team managed to capture only a very small portion of the events on video, but here are some of the highlights. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did!
